Ashura Vol. 12 Ch. 46

Nanaten here just tried to cook a Japanese beef curry only to accidentally pour too much coconut cream, it turned into white curry. Now that I think about it, do Japanese beef curry requires coconut cream? Either way, food is secure for the next two days.

Tonight, I'll be doing an Isekai 3x3 stream where I sit down and chat about some of my favorite isekai series.

Random stuff: I took a psych evaluation this week, and it's a doozy. I had to wait for a day just to book an appointment, and there's this thing with the results. I talked about it on full detail at my Patreon page, so you can go there and read it and then come back here.

Anyway, my birthday is coming up next week, if the old comic strip on my twitter feed didn't give you guys a hint. I sort of got early birthday presents (sort of) from my family (again, full detail at my Patreon page). But what I want for my birthday is probably a graphics card for my computer so I can stream properly. I've been trying to save money since last year, but every time, either something urgent came up or the gpu price went up and I decided to buy something else. So any amount of donation is greatly appreciated.

So here's the chapter, I don't have anything else to say that I haven't said already regarding this arc. I'll be doing either Kaiouki or volume 13 of Shura after this volume. Next week's update will arrive a few days early to coincide with my birthday.

Ashura Vol. 12 Ch. 45

Nanaten here trying to think of a way to promote this series without the risk of getting my twitter account suspended again. I was making my own anime 3x3, and one of the anime on the list was Shura no Toki. As I was about to post it on twitter, I realize that one slight of image could set off another DMCA on my account. It was frustrating because I really wanted to share my anime 3x3 and discuss it with someone. I'll probably do it for a just chat stream next week, so stay tuned.

This week's video: I played The Manga Works on android

I actually recorded this way back in April, but only get to edit it last week. This was recorded to test my mobile screen capture settings before I decided on doing the GYEE stream. I really don't know how to make good edit, like other vtubers. I kinda behind on all meme editing and such, so it came pretty dull. I took CallMeKevin video as inspiration and decided to go for that kind of style.

About this chapter: sigh... the amount of politically incorrect stuff said in this chapter. I've said it multiple times how I'm really uncomfortable of translating this whole arc. I wish I could just skip it and get to Dai ni Mon. Now I understand why The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles took so long to get released worldwide.

So here are the chapter. Let me know in the comments if you find any error or mistake. If you would like to support me, there's a link to my Ko-fi and Patreon page. Patrons who make more than $3 pledge get one week early access to my translations. I'm taking yet another break next week because I was so busy with work, I forgot to translate any chapter. Alright, see you guys later.

Ashura Vol. 12 Ch. 44

Nanaten here coming from Eid Mubarak vacation only to be send for an anti-drug-youth-organization cadre training for a week. During that time, my baby cousin is staying-over-slash-got-left-behind-at-our-house. He's been using my computer playing games and watching minecraft videos. He was so absorbed the entire time, I practically couldn't find time to translate at all. I had to take a 6 hour road trip to the city away from my family, just so I can get to my brother's computer just to write this post.

Watching my baby cousin watching minecraft videos made me realize how cringe most minecraft youtubers are. I kept thinking "Is this why people don't watch my minecraft videos? Because I didn't act this cringe enough?" I do appreciate it from the editing and storytelling point, but the way the delivery just doesn't sit well with me.

So recently I've been trying to get him watch anything else. First it was Boboboi, because he was born and raised in Malaysia. But I think because of that, he's seen most of the episodes and he got bored (On the sidenote: I'm starting to see the appeal of the show after watching the opening theme.) Then I tried to get him to watch some Tokusatsu show. He then mentioned about the Upin Ipin Ultraman crossover, so I had the idea to watch Ultraman Tiga together. Then I realized, I've never seen the first episode of any Ultraman shows. As a child, I've always wondered where the Ultramen came from and why it kept choosing these fighter jet pilot guys (are the recent Ultraman MCs still pilots? idk.) Basically all I'm saying is that I was more absorbed on the show than he is.

During my cadre training, I bought a stylus for my phone to use as drawing practice. Needless to say, I spent my entire training period drawing instead of listening to the training materials. I drew a fanart of my favorite Japanese Vtuber, Cobablue, who by the way is one of my major influence in making Vtuber content.

I drew the fanart as a practice for the stylus. It was originally going to be a self portrait, but I've always wanted to make a Cobablue fanart to show my appreciation and also for inspiring me as a Vtuber. You can go to the twitter thread to see his reaction and a timelapse video of the art.

About this chapter: there's a page of celebrity cameos in this chapter that initially drew me off from this arc when I first read it years ago. My reaction was, "Really? Out of all 80's Hollywood celebrities you can choose and you picked these two? Nothing against them, but do they even watch boxing matches?"

So anyway, here's the chapter. You know the rules: drop a comment on if you find any error or mistake (actually, just comment in general.)  Next week is Tobari update.

Ashura Vol. 12 Chapter 43b

Nanaten here trying to catch up with this season's anime. My biggest surprise so far is Ya Boy Kongming. The opening just encapsulates the 80's-90's nightlife and I love it. And the guitar scene in episode 1 really gave me Carole & Tuesday vibe with its smooth animation. I highly recommend it.

Last week my twitter account got suspended for copyright violations. All of my posts that features Shura no Mon and Shura no Toki got DMCA'd, even the ones that remotely mentioned the series. It took me days to get my account back and delete the tweets. So anyway, to avoid getting this blog to have the same treatment, I shall refer to this series as "Tsukumo Mutsu and His Merry Fights" from now on.

This week's video: I did a Pokemon Smash or Pass with my friend Amewa Takahashi. We only managed to get through Gen 1 and 2 pokemans due to time constrain.

I am planning on going through the entire pokedex. I actually did streamed my Gen 3 smash or pass last night. But I screwed up with my encoder settings and it practically scuffed the entire stream. Luckily, my friend ThePseudoIntellectual streamed the whole thing and was kind enough to give me his VOD, so I will upload that in the future.

Second video is this month's MMD video. I wanted to do something special, So I decided to record a cover of the song and put it on the video.

This video has been a long time coming. It all started last year when I had an argument with a fellow Youtaite about using MMD videos for a cover. He disagreed with me, so I decided to make this video to prove a point. I worked on this video just before I moved. I only managed to record the song last month.

It took me a couple of weeks to learn Reaper in order to mix the audio. Needless to say, I wasn't very good at it. I didn't have any decent plug-ins and had to rely on a bunch of ReaPlugs and pirated VSTs. I even had to consult with the Youtaite fellow who started the argument to begin with. Until finally I just gave up and just crank everything up in Adobe Audition. But at the end of the day, I had a great experience working on this video, and I hope I can make more.

About this chapter: really, I have nothing else to say because of that whole twitter thing. But one particular thing. So in the manga, it says Chapter 43, without the B part. It almost got me confused in the chapter numbering when making the script. So I'll just referring this chapter as 43b.

Anyway, here is the chapter. Next week will be a Corseltel update.

Shura no Mon Ch. 43 & Ake no Tobari Ch. 231-233

Nanaten here. The latest Nintendo Direct announced a new Fire Emblem Warriors game featuring Three Houses story and casts. Well, guess who am I cosplaying as next week?

Thank you so much for tuning in the Donathon stream. I had a blast playing Master Duel up to rank Gold 5 and collecting strawberries in Celeste. We also received $30 donations, all sent anonymously. So that means 3 Ake no Tobari chapters this week! 😆😆😆 We're also have two and a half Ake no Tobari chapters for patrons over at my Patreon page. So sign up for my Patreon now!!!

Here's the archive stream. There's a lot of funny moments there. Some of the people that I dueled with actually stopped by on the stream, which is the highlights for me. I've never been stream sniped before, so that was exciting.

Of course I put the money collected from the donation to a good use. The next day, I decided to upgrade my Vtube avatar to have 52 blendshape keys. I've always wanted to do this ever since the android face tracking app has become available. Having 52 blendshape keys really improves with my face tracking by a margin. It will allow me to go for a full body motion capture like when I do Just Dance streams or skits and such.

The moment before I upgraded my avatar, I used another model that has 52 blend shape keys as a test for my full body motion capture. I made a DIY face tracking helmet using a selfie stick and a bike helmet. The test video somehow went viral on the Vtuber community.

And for some reason, a lot of people asked me how to do it. So I made a short tutorial (sort of):

And if you noticed, in the short I was wearing a new T-shirt.

I made a new T-shirt texture for my vroid model as part of a shameless plug to my IRL clothing line. Similar to my Upside Down T-shirt, this one is from ClickBait.id. ClickBait.id is a clothing line that combines premium quality T-shirts and tech design. This particular T-shirt is a combination of modern T-shirt with traditional Buginese fabric.

So go check out ClickBait Clothing's facebook page here.

Anyway, enough of my shameless plugs, time for random stuff. This week, my brother got me into learning Unreal Engine. I must say, it is much more fun building stuff there compared to Unity. I'm learning through this Unreal Sensei 5 hour beginner tutorial video. I'm still at the part about Lumen and lighting baking because my brother's computer had a problem with building lighting so he had to reset the whole computer.

The script for the Corseltel no Ryujutsushi Monogatari video is finished. I'm just waiting for the new VIRTU app to be released so I can start record with decent hand tracking. The devs said the PC version is coming out this week, so I might make another video on that.

I think that's enough talking for today. Here are the chapters. Next week, as I said, will be another Ake no Tobari.

Shura no Mon Ch. 42

Nanaten here. Sorry for the long hiatus. I was spending the last couple of weeks at my parents' cornfield fertilizing corn. I planned on only spending a week there, but one thing led to another, and next thing I knew, I'm moving back with my parents next month (I'll tell you guys more about it on another post).

Anyway on to this week's videos:
A fellow Vtuber and frequent collaborator, Taiki, organized a group of Vtube singers from Vtuber Network back in 2021 called NiSanGen. For their first project, Taiki wanted to do a chorus of Hikaru Nara. Early that year, I took part in another Hikaru Nara chorus project, so I decided to apply. Taiki offered me a small part in his project, only about 2 lines at the time because all vocal spot had actually been filled. Still, I was fine with it and proceeded to record my 2 lines. After I sent my vocal file, I told Taiki about my other Hikaru Nara project and offered my recording from that project. Taiki accepted. When I sent those files, I assumed that they would just used some parts to patch some stuff in their project. How shocked I was to find out that they actually used most of my vocals, I ended up a featured vocalist in the final video.

As for my thought on the video itself, I cannot emphasize it enough of how much I love the visual presentation. The character design and animation are fantastic. It was smooth and beautiful. However, the same thing can't be said about the audio. I might sound too harsh here, but the lack of work put into timing and tuning the vocal is unacceptable, especially when it's so apparent in the first 30 seconds of the song alone. When I first heard it, it almost ruined the whole video for me. It reminds me of my own lack of experience when it comes to mixing vocals, so I don't have the right to talk.

Second video is a 92 people mass chorus to celebrate 10 year anniversary of the song Doremifa Rondo. See if you can spot my voice in the video.

Third is an MMD Music Video of Specialist from Persona 4 Dance. It was so much fun making these. I'm thinking of making MMD music video once every month.

Random stuff: while I was at my parents farm, I slipped and fall trying to swim in a lake. I landed on my butt for all lake visitors to see. Everything was fine and I proceeded to swim in the lake, until I noticed that I sprained my right pinky finger when I fell. I'd been using a makeshift splint out of band-aids and popsicle sticks (which was an upgrade from my initial twigs and cellophane tape). I took it off this morning to see if it healed. It still hurts a bit when I try to close and open my hand. It'll probably will take about another week to recover. What I'm trying to say is, I'm taking a break from cleaning manga, which means that Ake no Tobari chapters is going to take a while to be released.

So here's the Shura no Mon chapter. Next week will be a Corseltel update.

Shura no Mon Vol. 11 Ch. 41

Nanaten here sitting completely listless. My friends had a casual cosplay gathering but I couldn't make it because I was streaming minecraft (and the fact that my mother took most of my make-up kit). And there's this CLAS:H cosplay pic showcase and now I'm starting to wonder if I should get back to cosplaying.

This week's video: the minecraft livestream was a disaster and I keep missing lore day for Nexus SMP, so we're just gonna skip that. On the other hand, the third episode of Sakura Taisen Let's Play is up. I noticed that people would be less inclined to watch my video because of its length, so this time I tried to make the episode shorter by less than an hour. It also took less time to edit.

Second video is another Among Us collab stream with other Vtubers. We had fun doing this, especially when I got impostor most of the stream. We are planning for more collabs like this, so stay tuned for that.

Other things: I took a virtual class on how to build a chatbot. I managed to build a simple chatbot called Nanabot. So far it can only respond to question such as "I like [insert anime here]" and giving small recommendation on anime and manga based on genre. But the latter was hella buggy, so take caution. Please talk to Nanabot and let me know what you think in the comments.

About this chapter: nothing really happens in this chapter. It is mostly a setup for this current arc, so I cannot talk about it too much. But we do get introduced to a new character this chapter. That's all I have to say. I am completely exhausted.

I am planning of doing another Don-a-thon stream because I need money to get a Leap Motion sensor. The last don-a-thon was a success and I actually had fun during the stream, but the price of graphic card skyrocketed and so long has passed. I actually used the money I collected to pay other stuff such as my bills and groceries, so financially speaking, think the second season premiere of Two Broke Girls (or something similar, I haven't actually watched that show). This time, I am not only planning on releasing Tobari as a donation goal, but other series as well, so look forward to that. If you have a suggestion on what I should be doing for the Don-a-thon stream, let me know in the comment section.

Shura no Mon Vol. 11 Ch. 40, Kaiouki Vol. 10 Ch. 29, & Ake no Tobari 184

Nanaten here wishing everyone a Happy New Year. 2020 was a crazy year. But we managed to push through it. So here's to a more hopeful 2021.

My goal for this year is to improve more, in terms of my path as a translator, singer, and an aspiring Vtuber. I started taking vocal lesson in hopes it would improve my voice when recording videos. Speaking of videos, here are the videos I uploaded between the last update:

This is my first Minecraft video I ever recorded, and the first time I ever played PvP Minecraft. For context, the only time I ever played Minecraft was half a decade ago, when I was still an undergrad student. I played a pirated version of Minecraft with my brother and his colleagues. I wasn't good then, and as you can see in this video, I am not good now. I decided to purchase my legit copy of Minecraft so I can play it with friends, but instead of teaching me the ropes, they thought it would be great to throw me straight up to PvP server and play some Cake Wars.

This one is the second part of our first Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance DLC playthrough. There's still problems with the recording from the last episode. So If you could bear with it, there is some funny bits in it.

Now back to Minecraft stuff. Picking off from the last minecraft video, we thought it would be great to invite more of our friends, and so we did. We tried to take a screenshot, but as you can see from this video, I am not good with directions. And oh, more Cake Wars despite my complaints about being a minecraft noob.

Or in case you missed my videos for the past year, I decided to make a compilation video of some of my best moments of 2020. You get the idea. There are a couple of never before seen clips thrown in there and if you watch it to the end, there's a teaser for an upcoming cover (which I haven't recorded yet. I have this strange habit of making the video first and then record the audio). If you have the time, please watch these videos.

Random stuff: I spend my New Years Eve watching American Dragon Jake Long season 2. For some reason, it's still unavailable on Indonesian Disney+. Between you and me, I'm more of a season 2 fan. I grew up on season 2 and I wish Disney channel would revive the show for another season. Heck, I'll take a live action series if I have to. I'll probably watch it again once it's available on Disney+. For the meantime, I'll be humming the theme song while watching Private Practice and Castle.

About these chapters: I was planning these to be released on Holiday season, but at the middle of December, I caught a cold. As I was working on Kaiouki, my head began to hurt, so the release was delayed. It got so bad to the point I decided to skip translating the sound effects. Basically, the whole house went down with a cold. Thankfully, I get my self tested for Covid earlier this week and the test came back negative.

As for the Shura no Mon, I was originally plan to work on this with someone else. We are planning to collaborate together on Shura no Mon series, starting with the Isekai spin-off. The plan was I would work on the translation while he does the typesetting and proofreading. I was working on the Shura no Mon until back in September, I lost the flashdrive containing half of the finished script (along with the finished draft of my thesis. Well, that's what you get for storing your scripts in a flashdrive without backup). It wasn't until the beginning of December that I found the drive behind by CPU with all of the files intact. So, with Holiday spirit in mind, I decided to typeset the first chapter of volume 11.

But here's the thing, I really HATE this arc. This series was made in the 80's and the arc is set in America. So there are some offensive sentiments from the American characters. To put it mildly, they haven't aged well. I wish I could just skip this arc altogether, if not for the (spoiler alert) connection to Shura no Toki series. You'll see my point if you read the Shura no Toki manga. So doing this collaboration thing really helps me pushing through 10 volumes of this arc. So hopefully, it goes well and I wasn't lazy enough to write the script. (I still haven't finished translating the script for volume 11 because I'm still recovering from my cold.)

So that was my New Year Greetings. Once again, I wish everyone a wonderful year. Next week, will be another Tobari update. By the way, does anyone know a way to trick friends into watching the entirety of Haruhi Suzumiya's "Endless Eight"? I want to make a prank video.

Commission Slot 7-9: Shura no Mon Vo. 10

Nanaten here caught with a mild cold. The rainy weather finally caught up to me. So right now I'm sipping lukewarm ginger tea (forgot to buy honey) while making this post.

Random stuff: convenience store food. A convenience store chain recently started selling ready to eat meals. Their menu consists of rice balls, spaghetti, sandwiches, and chicken and beef. The most popular item is unsurprisingly the rice balls, which always sold out on their most chains. So every time my friends actually managed to buy one, they would take a pic and post it like some instagram comodity (dude, it's $0.50 a piece rice ball, calm down). Luckily, the one near my house always have it in stock, so whenever I see it, I somehow bought their entire stock (teehee).

Other random stuff: my brother plays Arknights to the point he make his own Lancet 3D model.

I don't get the appeal of the game, but everyone I know seems to be playing it. As someone whose gacha game experience only consists of Pokemon Masters, I can't bring myself to try and play the game.

About this release: shout-out to MUTSU for once again commissioned this release. This is the volume that cost me my hard disk. I was in the middle of working this volume when my brother turn on the heat gun which sucked a lot of power. A couple of power shortage later, and the hard drive containing all of my data is lost. I'm still clinging to a sliver of hope that the data can be recovered somehow. Like, ALL of my current projects are in there. I at least managed to recover this release in particular, so that's a silver lining.

I originally planned to release this volume at the same time as volume 9 and the Isekai spin-off. There's a line in the Isekai spin-off referencing this volume, so have fun finding it. I'm trying something with the release schedule for this volume, particularly on Mangadex. The entire volume can be read here, but there's going to be a timing for the Mangadex release. I'm thinking one chapter a week maybe.

Let's talk about the story. So this is the last volume of the tournament arc. Some plot points from this arc were dropped and never referenced again, at least until the sequel. I really wish I can just skip this series, the next arc in particular, so I can get to the sequel already. Third arc of Shura no Mon is my least favorite, and for good reason too. The third arc is highly offensive in terms of racism and stereotype. Think The Great Ace Attorney series level of racism. This arc was written in the 90's, so a lot of the stuff does not age well. But the third arc does have important plot points. It served as a bridge between Shura no Mon and Shura no Toki. SnT volume 4 to be exact. If you've been following the series since I started working on the series, you'll know what I'm talking about.

So here's the end of tournament arc. Thank you for the comments about how you love this series. It really keeps me going. Let me know if you find mistakes and error in this release. Next week will be the return of Umakawa.

Commission Slot 4-6: Shura no Mon Vol. 9

Nanaten here, spending $4 on Monster Prom DLC which I'm pretty sure I won't play unless I play it with someone else on my channel. I also wish to purchase Coffee Talk, but I'm probably going to wait until the price goes down or a bigger humble bundle sale.

So I actually had to wait for The Good Place Series finale before writing this post because, well, it's The Good Place series finale. So the finale's title, "Whenever You're Ready", really speaks to the audience. At this moment, you can chose whether you want to watch the finale or not. I'm the sort of guy that always drop a show at the final season because I was never ready to say goodbye to the show. The overall conflict with The Good Place was pretty much resolved in last episode, so having the series itself telling me if I was ready to say my final goodbye to the series is a nice moment to take in.

And really, that's what the finale is about: taking their time to bask in the exact moment before leaving, there's no twist, there's no looking back to glorious moments, just taking in the moment. There's nothing to be said when everyone reached their own conclusion that they're ready to go through that door. They all content with what they have, what they've achieved, and how they spent the rest of the afterlife. It just... clicked, it's time, there's no need to drag it out.

3 minutes in and we see Jason reached that conclusion, and I was like, "Oh, no... This is how the rest of the finale's going to be, isn't it?" and it felt natural. There's no more story for them to tell, especially not Jason. Shenanigans? Sure. But Jason's a simple character with simple motivation. Once the motivation has been reached, it comes naturally, not because he was bored of everything the good place had offered. I was surprised of how everyone on Earth was accepted to the Good Place eventually, though, especially Doug. Season 3 pretty much established him as irredeemable human. But I guess if people like Brent has a chance of improvement then Doug can definitely get in. It's also nice to see how almost every minor characters has one last appearance (except for Adam Scott's Trevor and Chidi's ex-girlfriend). The Nick Offerman cameo caught me by surprise. There's already a Parks & Rec easter egg on the show before, but getting the Ron Swanson himself was the absolute treat.

Anyway move on to another review (Oh, you thought there's only one in this post?), yesterday I went to see Violet Evergarden movie. This movie feels like two OVAs stitched together rather than a typical movie with a single plot (at the end of the second story, I suspected there was going to be a third one. Luckily, it went to the credits). Mostly because it mainly focuses on the guest movie only characters instead of Violet. But I guess with "Gaiden" on the tittle, I pretty much expected that.

Haruhi and K-On are the only two movies produced by Kyoto Animations that I watched. This movie is a good sign of the studio getting back on their feet after the fire. After the delay because of that fire, it's nice to see the final product still has that KyoAni polish on it as we would have expected. I really like the two stop motion sequences on the two separate montage (pointing out the thing with the movie felt like two separate OVAs). But I must say, the sound design, just imagine me doing that chef hand with my mouth gesture. Every time the camera closes in to show Violet's hand, you can hear the sound of metal faintly clanking with whatever object she's interacting with. Just... mooch (just imagine me doing that chef gesture again).

So about this release: Shout-out to Mutsu for commissioning this release. This is one of two part release. I was planning to just dump all of the batches together but decided against it because I still don't have any other chapter due to that drive thing (which was an excuse for procrastinating). I was working on this volume in a real hurry, so besides basic color correction, I didn't do any of proofreading at all, so please let me know if you find errors or mistakes in the script somewhere.

Isekai Shura no Mon

Nanaten here and yes, you did not misread the title. This is an Isekai spin-off of Shura no Mon/Shura no Toki series. This was created to commemorate 35 years of Kawahara Masatoshi's manga debut on Monthly Shonen Magazine. And what good way to celebrate that, said a Monthly Shonen Magazine editor, Well an isekai spin-off of course.

Fortunately, this chapter is free to read from the get go on Pocket Shonen Magazine, unlike Ashidaka, Ryo Sumiyoshi's new series, that was locked behind a paywall so I got to work on this right away despite my broken hard drive. (Un)fortunately, this was only a one-shot special. There's no further information that this will actually get picked on for a full series. Kawahara Masatoshi is still penning Ryusui no Tsubasa, and the series just got off a hiatus a couple of months ago because of Shura no Toki volume 18 and 19. It basically depends on general reception of this one-shot.

To be honest, my impression with this chapter within average range. I was so hyped with Ashidaka when it was announced and he fact that I noticed this chapter way too late already reduced my investment in general. I was expecting a Slice-of-life comedy spin-off kinda thing, you know a 4-koma comedy spin-off featuring Mutsus from every generations. From Tsukumo all the way back to Kiichi. That would be a much more interesting read.

There's also the thing with different artist did the illustrations. I don't know who this Toushirou Kai is. Either he's one of Masatoshi's assistants or a recently debuted mangaka hired by the magazine. I could not find anything on the guy. Masatoshi's script is apparent, but sometimes it feels mismatched with the expression of the character. I know it's supposed to be a comedy and the art is simplified, but there are too many serious moments in this series that could actually passed on as another Shura no Toki chapter if not for the Isekai tag on it.

And then there's the Mutsu of it all. When I first saw the announcement, no further information than this picture above, I was speculating on which Mutsu is that. Heck, I even wished that it was Tohya (read next week's release to find out who that is). One of the main traits of Shura no Toki is while how each generation has its own mannerism, they all share common traits, they all OP, they all big eater, they all have a ponytail and extremely confident on their skill. Based on those traits and the fact that it's by different artist, I couldn't tell which Mutsu that was. So imagine my frustration when it turns out that the Mutsu turned out to be [spoiler] with a personality of Nikka from Kaiouki and Listless Tanaka combined. It just feels like a cop-out to me.

So here's the actual chapter. I hope my rant doesn't repel you from reading this one-shot. I really hope you actually enjoy it and this series to be picked up for a full serialization because I actually enjoyed the world itself and I feel there's lot to explore here. Anyway, let me know if you find any error or grammar mistake in the comments. Next week, we'll be back to regular Shura no Mon.

2019 Commission First Batch: Shura no Mon Vol. 8

Nanaten here with the first batch of the second commission period. This volume is commissioned by username Mutsu. Is it a coincidence that the first time I did a translation commission, it was also for Shura no Mon?

It's good to finally back translating this series. I never had the motivation to translate this until I bought the volumes at a bargain sale a couple of years ago. My translation flow wasn't as fluid as I have now. While I still rely on google translate and such, I think I am finally capable to convey the context of each sentences.

There's something appealing about the changes in Indonesian translation of Shura no Mon. For starter, the title was changed to Ashura, Tsukumo was changer to "Paddy", the four devas are also changed but I'm not gonna go into that. The one that got the most was the "Paddy" name. In the Indonesian version, "Paddy" has no last name, so the translation refer both "Tsukumo" and "Mutsu" as "Paddy". So there were instances like "Paddy learn the Paddy martial arts" all around the series. It's frustrating, yet amusing. I really want to talk to the one in charge of the translation all those years ago, Asep Mulyadi. If anyone knows how to contact him, please let me know.

Also a caution: I go back to using the Japanese names for the attacks instead of English names, because it's faster this way and to match previous translations.

So here's the first batch of the commissioned volumes. I'm currently working on the second batch. Please contact me if you would like to put up a commission yourself. Next week will be a single T-Sensei update.

Commission Slot 1-6: Shura no Mon Dai ni Mon Bahasa Indonesia Volume 1-6

Nanaten here with the first batch of commissioned chapters. Special thanks to Tobias Djiuardi for the commission.

This is the Bahasa Indonesia scans of Shura no Mon Dai ni Mon. It is a bootleg translation published by Dragon Production. They only published up to volume six before it is discontinued. It took me this long to upload this because I had to ask my usual manga rental shop for it. It took about a week for the manga to arrive and it took me about a week and a half to manually scan them all. And I couldn't rip the pages because they're rental.

One thing I noticed is that this translation probably has the same quality as most of my old translation releases.

For those who doesn't understand Bahasa Indonesia, don't worry. I'm also planning to release English version of this. Currently, I'm halfway done with the first chapter. But the second batch of commissions will have to take priority. The second batch of commissioned chapters will be available next week (I hope. I have two papers and exams coming up.)

So here's the scans. I hope you enjoy it.

Citrus Project's First Scanlation Commission/Fundraiser

Nanaten's Random Friday

Nanaten here! I somehow went over budget on my cosplay and now in need for some cash to finish them. So I'm thinking of open a commission. Currently I'm opening 10 slots for commisions.

How do I make a commission?

You can contact me on the facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/citrusprojects/
message me via twitter: @citrus_nanaten
tumblr: https://citrus-project.tumblr.com/
or good ol' email: fridwan31@gmail.com or citrusnanaten@gmail.com

What can I commission?

This is the first time I'm doing this, so it's going to be limited to chapters of series I'm working on currently, including those that are on hiatus/dropped. I only open 10 commision slots. That's 10 chapters of whatever series that I'm working on. For more details of that the series are, click here.

How much per chapter?

Depends on the series:
  1. Webmanga (Ake no Tobari): 5$ USD
  2. Manga that's around 20-30 pages long (CnR, InS, SnM, WoG, Samurai Sensei, Paradise, AshiAo): 8$ USD
  3. Manga that's around 50-60 pages long (Kaiouki, SnT, SnM2): 10$ USD
  4. Manga that has more than 80 pages long (SnT Showa Arc, Ryuusui no Tsubasa):  12$ USD

How long will it take to do a chapter?

Around 3 days to a week, depending on what series. It will not count towards the weekly release.

Can I commission a different series that you're not working on?

Unfortunately, no. However I'm opening a slot for SnM2 (Shura no Mon: Dai ni Mon), RnT (Ryuusui no Tsubasa). Maybe next tiem I'm opening a commission.

If you have more questions, leave it in the comments below.

Shura no Mon Vol. 7 Ch. 27

Finally volume 7 is done. It took longer than expected. But thanks to the power of procrastination (currently running from writing my paper due monday), I was able to finish this chapter.

As you can read on my tumblr, I finally got volume 18 of Dai ni Mon. I was thinking of writing a review about it, but I was afraid that I'm gonna spoil it. Though I have to say, it reminds me of Yakumo vs. Musashi scene.

Tsukumo vs. Chinmi

Nanaten's Random Friday

It's time for another random poll!

It's been a week since I picked up Tekken Chinmi Legends and it raises a question, who would win in a fight, Tsukumo Mutsu or Chinmi?

Is Tsukumo's Mukuha (not counting his four gates) can defeat Chinmi's Tsuhaiken?

Poll closes on November 8th.

Who would win in a fight?

Tsukumo Mutsu
Chinmi

Shura no Mon Vol. 7 Ch. 26

Oh, you were waiting for Tsukumo? Too bad, here's more Chinmi! I'm just kidding.

My procrastination has reached unproductive level. I missed one assignment this week and yesterday I almost missed my translation class (I was two hours late because I got the schedule wrong). And I still haven't worked on my research paper.

Last time, I translated the wrong chapter. Hopefully, it won't happen again. I also noticed that in the localized version, they cut some pages out for unexplainable reason. You can go and check the difference if you have one right now. This really makes me wish that they just publish the aizoban edition along with Shura no Toki. Come on, Elex Media! Chinmi got one, Tsubasa got one, heck, even The Sleeping Tsukumo were published on its aizoban edition instead of tankobon!

So here's a Mutsu. Enjoy your chapter!

Shura no Mon Vol. 6 Ch. 20

Great, now everyone's gonna vote for Shura no Mon even more. I guess everyone just like it more.... Like 59% of the tally is Shura no Mon.

Anyway, I've been posting new chapter for three days straight now. I wonder if I can do this for the rest of the week. Thanks to that, I'll probably won't feel sunlight for the rest of the week.

I've finally change my scanlator name in Batoto into "Citrus Project" though the url is still referring to my LiveJournal instead of this blog. I wonder if I should change that as well. But since this blog is where I put all my random stuff, I guess a shouldn't change it. (Then again, so does my LiveJournal)

Random advertisement: because I haven't been outside for three days now, I'm running out of food (and money). I've been eating rice and soup for three days. It delicious, but it's not fulfilling. So please donate so I can save money on internet bills and finally buy a microphone to record my new album.... (Jokes aside, I really need money right now. Please donate!)

Random stuff: I've finally stopped at being addicted to Nico Nico Medley. I'm still listening to it though, but not just as much. Well... you get the idea.

Shura no Toki Vol. 4 Bonus Epilogue (Shura no Mon Vol. 21 Ch. 74 page 132-142)

This bonus is directly taken from the main series. I read the entire Shura no Mon third arc after I finished translating volume SnT 4 (It's okay, you're not missing anything much. What happened was Tsukumo beat up some boxers, angering every American he can find, had a fight with Jilco, become world champion, and Maiko is still not getting the D. But she did confess to Tsukumo and is officially his girlfriend).
And I must say, this epilogue scene almost made me cry like Azuma. Try to do the same! But if you do cry, I understand....
