Ake no Tobari Ch. 236-237

Nanaten here writing this post on my phone because my pc still hasn't been delivered. First day at work and I'm taking it slowly. Feeling the lay of the land, you know? The language lab they assigned me had been abandoned for a couple of semesters, so it's going to take a while to get things running again, especially with my lack of knowledge in electronics and engineering.

This week's video: a video to celebrate (early) White Day (the romantic kind). I know it's only the twelfth, but it's better than sharing this on the nineteenth. So you guys get an early access before it goes to public.

So as you recall, I did a poll on my Patreon to see what mmd music video I should do. And the result was a tie between Electronica in Velvet Room and A Way of Life.

So remember last month when I did a poll for February's MMD video and it was a tie between Electronica in Velvet Room and A Way of Life? Well, here is the video for A Way of Life. This is also a showcase for my new Vtuber model.

This model had new hairstyle, eyes, and eyebrows worked from scratch. I also add a little detail on the nose, which might not have been much, but it's a game changer for me. For this video, I repositioned the headphones on the neck, but for regular stream and video, I'll put it on the head as usual.

I already mentioned last month that for this video I would make a new outfit for my model. So I took the opportunity to rework on my model and fix a couple of stuff. I've been planning to do a vtuber model version 2 for quite some time now. I had some sketches made back in October. I wanted my model to have shorter hair and thinner side braid. I took some inspirations from Persona Dance models, particularly Akihiko Sanada's model. I tried to put the usual purple hoodie on the model, but It didn't worked as much as I hoped it to be. That being said, I do have some other sketches that depicts a Buginese formal outfit combined with Harajuku styles. If I had more time to work on the model, I probably try to make them. For now, I just had to use the preset school outfit from Vroid.

It also took me the entire day to convert the Vroid model to work on MMD. For the previous video, I just had to replace the texture for the body skin and t-shirt of my old model. But for this video I had to export the model and tweak the bones. I followed the new tutorial by Denom Rs. But there were a bit of complications.

First was the UniVrm unity package that came with the tutorial. I've been using the latest version of the package, but in the tutorial it used a really old version, even older than the one I used for my previous model. So when I exported the model and opened it on MMD, the face's shadow wasn't rendered properly. Think Pokemon Legend Arceus's level of shadow but somehow realistic contrast(?). I don't know how to describe it. Anyway, a couple of seconds with PMX editor plugin fixed the issue.

Second was the feet bone fix to be compatible with Project DIVA and Persona motions. Luckily, Denom's new tutorial fixed the second mother bone issue that usually comes with converting VRM model to PMX. So I was practically halfway done. The issue was that I somehow forgot to delete the materials when I tried to combine two of the same model, so my pmx model ended up with double the material and oh, the feet issue still persist. So I got tired of it and deleted the bones altogether (can't have the feet bone gone astray if you don't have any, amirite?). This create another issue where the legs would go to a spasm from time to time. If you pay close attention to the legs on the video, you'll see what I'm talking about.

But despite all that, I had a lot of fun working on this video. And who knows, maybe on the next video, I'll actually sing.

About this chapter: as you notice, i only have one chapter of Ake no Tobari. Yeah, while I wait for my computer to arrive, there's going to be a slow update on all the series. Luckily, my dad lent me his office laptop. I looked at the specs last night and I think my dad's office got scammed. It's an Acer Aspire 3 with a Radeon R5 and 4gb RAM for some reason. I mean it could run Photoshop CS5 fine, but still... Anyway, I just going have to do with that and start working on the scripts.

CnR-KM Chapter 26

Nanaten here. I am completely done with my self quarantine. Still have minor coughs though, but lately it's less frequent.

I mentioned in my Patreon post last month that my dad got me a new job as the head of language lab at a local university at my hometown. That means that I would have to move out and therefore have no access to my brother's pc for cleaning and typesetting. I stayed at the city during February to get my things sorted out (and again, self quarantine). Immediately after my self quarantine was finished, I got a call from my dad that I have to go there to finalize the paperwork (and help out at the cornfield for harvest). So I packed my bags and move back in with my parents early this week.

So while I wait for my PC to get delivered, I would have to make do with my super old laptop. Not to worry though, I already had a couple of chapters scheduled for this month. I also have a new MMD video coming up next monday. So look forward to those.

I spent my self quarantine time playing Pokemon Legends Arceus. I don't have a Switch, so I played it on Yuzu emulator. It works well enough except for a couple of frame dips at the Jubilife Village and some minor graphical glitches. Somehow I couldn't get Vulkan rendering to work on my (brother's) PC. Right as I was about to face Palkia, the Daybreak update and Pokemon Scarlett and Violet were announced. I couldn't play too much of the Daybreak update because it was two days before I left for home. But I'm looking forward to Gen 9 pokemon.

I also worked on the V2 of my Vtuber model. I've been working on this since October after listening to Argama Witch's comment on my model during her stream. She said and I quote "the only thing original is the hair". So I decided to rework on the model materials. New hairstyle, eyes, and eyebrows. The next MMD video will be a showcase for the new model. So again, look forward to that.

About this chapter: when I was self quarantine, I forgot that I already had this chapter done. I think this chapter was meant to be released in case the donathon stream didn't pan out. So this story is a multi-chapter arc with two concurrent plot. In one hand, we have Agrina who is about to receive her first egg, on the other we have a new dark dragon mage coming to Corseltell for the dark dragon egg. If you've been following Goingsoloonce's livejournal, I posted a picture of Agrina, her dragon, the new dark dragon and its mage at his comment section. And with this, most of the new CnR-KM cast has arrived and basically I can proceed with the second volume of Illbeck. I'll probably do it once my PC arrives.

Shura no Mon Iden: Fudekage Vol. 8 Ch. 24 (End)

Here you go, the final chapter.

We've come a long way to get to this chapter. Thank you for keep sticking with me for the past six months. You have endure all of my typos, grammar mistakes, terrible cleaning (and lack of), even some of my unnecessary notes and jokes. It was all thanks to your support (and donation) that got me motivated translating this series till the end.

I first encounter this series when I read an article at Crunchyroll that Shura no Mon is ending. Truth is, I didn't even know about SnM (okay that looks wrong) until I read that article. So I immediately went and read all of the books and fell in love with it.

I don't exactly remember why I translated this in the first place. Maybe it's something that was meant to be. By translating this series, I'm getting better at reading Japanese. Well, I still need furigana and I'm still using google translate. I have found a hobby where I don't have to go outside or spend a ton of money (Except for internet connection, and electricity bill. Seriously, please donate!). It begins as something I enjoy and hopefully it stays that way. Or else I'll take a break and never return because I forgot about it.

About my next translation project.... Truth is, I "accidentally" deleted the tally results and I didn't make a backup for it (Whoops, I'm so clumsy! Teehee!). But I do remember the results, so I'll announce it next week.

Random news: just got my youtube account fixed. I'm thinking of doing some Let's Play for Shura no Mon games and maybe more local event Vlogging.

Shura no Mon Iden: Fudekage Vol. 7 Ch. 21

Sorry I’m late. My PC has an issue again, so I have to redo the last seven pages on my recently fixed laptop.

About my review of Kyoko Okitegami’s memo. Don’t worry; I wasn’t planning on translating that series. If no one is translating that by the time the next issue comes up and you asked for it, I’ll consider it. I’ll probably going to do more of this kind of review. Who knows?

Anyway now that I have finished volume 7, I’m gonna work on volume 8 all at once. So there might not be any Fudekage chapter for at least three weeks. With 233 pages to tackle, it’s going to take a while. But don’t worry, in the meantime, I’ll post more random stuff and probably Shura no Toki volume 8.

Random stuff: for the past year I’ve been thinking about the logo for Citrus Project but I can’t come up with anything. I ask someone I know working on visual design last year and I still haven’t heard of him. And then I turn to my best friend (yes, I have one too) but he only came up with an Apple logo rip-off (Seriously, dude? That doesn’t even look like an orange.). Maybe I should come up with a logo design contest. Though I can’t come up with a prize. What do you think? Leave your comments below!

Other news: Google has revoked my Google Adsense account. But before that, for some reason, ads won’t even show up in the first place. Maybe because of the ads, my visitor count has been going down. It’s just that it makes me think no one cares about the series anymore or me (What a horrible reason of me to doing this for money and fame....). Maybe I should change my upload policy from 24 hours to 48 hours or maybe even a week. Just kidding!

About that poll I’ve been talking for the last couple of months... I’m gonna put the poll on the next post. You’ve seen the candidates. I’ll only going to pick one because if I do three series at once, I’ll probably going to overwork myself again and have yet another bad case of diarrhea.

Other random stuff: This week I decided to watch Masaki Kajishima’s hentai anime, Masquerade (I watch it for the story, okay?). I already saw Agga Rutter this January (yup, it was hilarious). It was surprisingly deep. I never thought I would care for characters of a hentai anime. I’m gonna write a review about that next week because I’m gonna watch it again (Teacher is the best woman)!

Shura no Mon Iden: Fudekage Vol. 7 Ch. 20

Phew! Made it!!! Still there's so many redrawing job required that I just threw it away and decided to go for /ak/ method (except for the spread pages).

Four chapters to go. I should really get back working on Shura no Toki. I've been getting a lot of positive response from all of you (despite all of grammar mistakes, typos, poor vocabulary). It's nice to see that people enjoyed this series.

As for the plan which series should I do next after Fudekage, like I said on previous chapter, I'm gonna put a vote. But before that I'm thinking maybe I will do at least one chapter of every candidates and see how you would response. As for the candidates, there are:

Hero. Basically reverse Fudekage (soccer girl and karate boy) with Adachi Mitsuru-styled romance (you know, childhood friend, love triangle, sport and stuff). Only this time with actual blood.
Ashita Aozora. Basically Prototype Shura no Mon.
Paradise Gakuen. This is the series that reminds me that 80's ecchi manga is really f*cked up. Two days ago, I asked Rapeman if he could do it. But unfortunately, he's too busy with DMZ. I was hoping that he would because from what I read, it's basically school for rapist (I mean seriously, how come they never arrest the principal?)

That's the candidate for new series (well, not new as in recent. I mean it's 20 years old manga). As for manga that has been abandoned, here're the candidates:

Shura no Mon. Yes, this includes Dai ni Mon. Well, at least finish the second arc and go straight to Dai ni Mon.
Kaiouki. There's still 37 volumes to go. Do you think I could handle it?
STOP DOING ALL THESE SERIES AND GO BACK TRANSLATING CORSELTEL NO RYUUJUTSUSHI ALREADY!!!!!!!! Yeah, I'm pretty sure some people would scream this....

Other random stuff I would like to say: recently I'm starting to download manga raw because I just couldn't handle the waiting game. It really put a strain on my harddrive, so I encoded most of my anime to hi10 (I know, right?). It makes me think that maybe I should go back doing subtitle for Baby and Me. One of my ~~friend~~ acquaintance asked me about it. Heck! Even my parents questioning me translating these manga. But I'll leave it at that.

Anyway, back to Fudekage vs. Gigantes. I'll probably going to do SnT at the same time. It's been more than two weeks (Well that chapter is actually two chapters worth the ammount, so that's a given). And I really need to go outside (last time I did was to return the manga I rented. Does that count)....

Now back to Fudekage! This chapter is just another intermission. Sorry about those Translation Notes! I just couldn't resist (seriously, is there a soccer term for "Buzzer Beater"?). Also, we get to see Shima and Satsuka doing comedy routine for the last time. Yeah! We only have 5 chapters to go.

About a week ago, someone asked me if I'm interested in continuing the translation of Kaiouki. To tell you the truth, I'm interested in translating every Masatoshi Kawahara's work (which is why I'm staring to think that this blog is turning into his fansite), including Kaiouki. But there's college and all, which is why after i'm done with volume 7, I will put up a vote on which Masatoshi Kawahara's work shall I translate next.

As for Fudekage vs. Gigantes next chapter, I'm going to release it on usual rate (which is random). But for the last three chapters (volume 8) I'm thinking of releasing it all at once. So you will probably going to have to bear with a massive cliffhanger at the end of volume 7, but let me tell you: It's worth it! (Let's just say that manly tears were shed when I read it....)

And that's the end of Fudekage vs. Sanseta. Out of every opponent they've encountered so far, Sanseta is the most decent. I mean there's no hostility between both teams. I like that scene between Kensho and Hayato at the end.

As for next update, I will be working on Shura no Toki volume 7 first and then back to Fudekage. But expect a slower release, because I'll be going back to my hometown for a while. Also both Shura no Toki and Fudekage has many redrawing works required. So yeah, it's going to take a while! Just stay tune for update and announcement later!

Wow, this week has been a busy one for me

My first translating job
Language Testing observation
Hosting a Cardfight Vanguard Tournament
Humongous ammount of assignments (which I ignore 50%)

Although most of them went horribly wrong....

Anyway, I split chapter 14 into two parts (even though the second part only has like 26 pages). I decided to do this because Arya's lines are all in katakana (just to show that she's a foreigner). Also there're three pages that didn't have furigana next to it, so it's going to be hard to know what the kanji says (this is the reason why I stopped translating Corseltel no Ryuujutsushi, can somebody translate that please? Same thing goes to Shura no Mon: Dai Ni Mon)
