Ake no Tobari Ch. 135 & T-Sensei Vol. 3 Ch.17

Nanaten here. I've been spending the past week trying to land auditions on Casting Call Club. After a whole year of absence, I decided to go back doing voice work, not that it matters because I can't seem to land any of the roles because of my accent and lackluster talent for acting.

Speaking of my lackluster voice acting ability, this week's video:
I did another Japanese manga dub of T-Sensei. This was recorded a few days after the first video. I just thought that people might enjoy this kind of content. I've been thinking of making this manga dub as a series for both this blog and my channel. That of course, I'm thinking of making it an English dub instead of Japanese like I did, cause let's be honest, my Japanese sucks. So please tell me if you enjoy it and maybe I will do a casting call.

Random stuff: I just got back from watching My Hero Academia: The Two Heroes on theatre. I quite enjoyed it. It has amusing moments between the characters. While it feels weird to see it after watching season 3 (the movie sets right after Hero Killer Stain arc), the portrayal for most of the characters were on point. The whole movie screams: this is a movie, this won't affect the main story in any kind of way, but Melissa was such a treat and a great addition to the cast. I wish she was featured in the main series (that special episode on season 3 doesn't count).

The only weakness of this movie though is the villains. They are just kinda there to be the punching bag for the heroes. And that is not something you want for an anime movie that spend the second act doing a take on Die Hard. There's also an issue with how they treated side characters. MHA has extensive characters, so it was a given that some will be thrown into the sidelines. But for those characters to do absolutely nothing during the whole movie was kinda a huge bummer.

In conclusion: it feels like a good filler arc. It's funny, the new characters feels right into the series and on point, adds world building to the series, but the villains are forgettable and some characters were reduced to cameos.

About this chapters: once again, big thanks to Eva (and Mayu) for cleaning and typesetting. My mind is currently occupied with the matters I mentioned above, so I don't have anything interesting to say about these chapters. Huh, that's a first.

And that's it for this week's updates. I ran out of manga chapters on my reserves, so I think I'm gonna spend the week working on chapters. That means I'll be taking a break next week to work on chapters.

Shura no Toki Vol. 9 Ch. 1

Nanaten here. I... err... uhm... huh. I don't have something fun to say as an opener. Weird. I forgot what I was so busy doing this week, other than the new Doctor Who episode. I think I like Jodie Whittaker as The Doctor. Can't say the same about the episode, though. It has many flaws in terms of pacing that almost drove me and my brother away.

This week's video, my cover of Dragon Ball Super opening:
I am so excited to finally share this. I recorded this last month. I was on my DBZA binge high and I asked my friends whether I should cover this or Day of Fate. My friends, who only have seen DBS, obviously picked this song. This is also the first time I tried animation on After Effect. Normally I would do it on Premiere Pro. While it is still only during the first 10 seconds, I am still proud of the animation I did. Also, yes, I noticed that Frieza is missing his halo in this video. It was keyed out unintentionally when I put the chroma key.

About this chapter: I've been meaning to upload this chapter since last month. But with the consecutive release of Ake no Tobari and T-Sensei, I couldn't find the right timing to do this. And I sort of forgot about it. I haven't done manga chapter myself since TCL back in June. So the process was a bit slow. I also forgot to translate the narration on first and last page, so that slows the process even more. Anyway, yeah. Shura no Toki Volume 9 is back on monthly basis. Let's hope I won't forget it next month. Cheers.

So here's Shura no Toki. Next week, back to Tobari and T-Sensei, or as I would like to call it: our weekly dose of TnT!

Ake no Tobari Ch. 134 & T-Sensei Vol. 3 Ch. 16

Nanaten here. Before I start with this post, I just want to express my sympathy for the victims of the Tsunami in Palu. I pray for their safety and relief during this event of disaster. If you wish to donate for the victims, one of my friends is gathering relief funds over there. Just send your donation to Andi Alif on his BNI account 0634507431 (Indonesian Bank).

Moving on, this week's video: my cover of Dear You from Higurashi series:
Keeping the somber tone, I decided to do a cover of this song. This was recorded back in July along with some other songs I've been wanting to do. I've planned to sing this live but decided to do it with Poison cover instead, which I didn't end up doing anyway. Speaking of which, thank you for those watching my live performances at Pop Cicle 2018 last week. It was the most successful performance I have ever done. Maybe it has something to do with the time placement. Part of the performance can be watched on my facebook page.

About this chapter: once again, shout-out to Eva and Mayu from Mavi Manga for providing the necessary cleaning and typesetting. Please check out their Turkish translation of both series. I really have fun translating Kokonoe's attacks. I think Tobari should copy her and start naming his attacks as well, just so I have the context of what the attack actually does. But that still doesn't make me forgive Kokonoe for trying to play the victim for the last few chapters. Currently, she's at the bottom of the list of my favorite characters. Village chief was on that list, but he redeemed himself when he gave that advice to Tobari.

The theme for this week's T-Sensei chapter is how kids want to become an adult quickly. That is something I also thought when I was a child. But now, I'm at the moment of my life where I realized nothing good will come if I rush things. It is probably because of fear about how fast time seems to pass for me. I'm already 24 and I finally found something I enjoy doing: a bunch of stuff and to be praised and thanked doing it. While doing one thing is fun, if I doing it too often, I might ended up hating it. Which is why I'm translating these series on a weekly basis, with youtube stuff on the side. I want to keep everything fresh. It might be slow, it might be amateurish, but it's the way I want to do it.

So here are this week's chapters. I'll see you next week.

Ake no Tobari Ch. 133 & T-Sensei Vol. 3 Ch. 15

Nanaten here. My string of bad luck continues. I caught a cold (how many times does it make this summer?). I took some medicine today and I am now feeling sluggish. At one point, I'm pretty sure my urine turned pink.

I would also like to wish my sympathy for those at Middle Sulawesi during an earthquake over there. I hope the people there are okay and stay calm.

Anyway, time for this week's video. This week, I tried something different.
It was the middle of the night and I have to upload something on my channel because I'm trying to at least upload one video every week. I was absolutely bored so I decided to do a little bit of voice acting by dubbing a page of T-Sensei manga. I haven't done Japanese voice acting in five years. Last time I did it was for a cosplay performance, and look how that turned out. I planned to do more of this as a mean for practice and I you want to see more, just let me know in the comments or by liking the video.

About this chapter: shoutout to Eva from Mavi Manga for the amazing Typesetting and Cleaning, also to Mayu as our mediator. We are now entering Tobari vs. Kokonoe arc, or as I would like to call it: Mother of the Year arc (with a clear sarcastic tone). I was facepalming at Kokonoe for the entire arc for being such a lousy mother for Tobari. Sure she meant well, but her execution was rather done poorly. Also at the point of translating I just realized, most of Tobari's allies (Reimei included) have tried to kill him at some point. Is Tobari secretly Goku?

As for T-Sensei, some jokes might got lost in translation. I tried to keep the joke as much as it was in original Japanese. Hopefully, you guys get the joke and laugh as much as I did when I translated this.

I can't write much because of the medicine kicking in. Today, I'll be at Pop Circle 2018 doing a live show. If you are in Makassar area, I'll be seeing you there.

Ake no Tobari Ch. 132 & T-Sensei Vol. 3 Ch. 14

Nanaten here. I just realized that I uploaded this week's chapter of Ake no Tobari   instead of T-Sensei chapter on Mangadex last week. Talk about a huge blunder on my part. Teehee. Here's to not doing the same mistake again *cheers*.

This week's video: a cover of a song I've always wanted to do ever since I saw it on karaoke with friends
Yeah, I did a cover of 1998 live action adaptation of Great Teacher Onizuka theme song. This show  one of the two first JDrama  I ever saw (the other being the original live action adaptation of Itazura na Kiss). It left an impact on me as a kid. It actually influenced me to take education major. While the 2014 adaptation is entertaining and true to the source material, but for me, the 1998 version will always have a place in my heart. Sorry, EXILE guy, but you just can't beat Takashi Sorimachi's charisma.

Other random stuff: I think someone is trying to get into my accounts. Last week I found an email that asked me to confirm password reset. Of course, I immediately changed my password along with several other accounts. Then this morning, I found my google plus account suspended for unknown reason. I had to use private account just to get on blogger in write this post (thankfully, that matter is resolved). Not to mention this tuesday, my bike helmet was stolen (again). I think someone is out to get me.

About these chapters: so yeah, I accidentally uploaded this week's Ake no Tobari chapter last week on Mangadex. I guess I was so exhausted last week that I forgot I was supposed to upload T-Sensei. So I apologize. My favorite part of this Ake no Tobari chapter is that we finally get the name of Reimei's teacher. I was so excited that we finally get a name after years referring him only as Reimei's teacher. Now I really wish we could get more flashback chapter featuring him. We already have the gist about his demise. But I really want to see the complete story of that.

And this week we have another installment of T-Sensei and the kids. My favorite part when I translated this was the "Wherever You Are" story. In the raws, T-Sensei was yelling as if he is playing hide and seek, looking for his "girlfriend". Takana Yukue really sells the pain in T-Sensei face as he called. I just laugh whenever I get to that page.

Oh yeah, Shout-out to my peeps Mayu and Eva from Mavi Manga for providing the amazing cleaning and typesetting. Seriously, you girls rock!

So here're T-Sensei and Ake no Tobari updates (or in Mangadex case, a double T-Sensei update). I'll see you next week when I share another rant about something.

T-Sensei Vol. 3 Ch. 13

Nanaten here. I have caught up with TFS's DBZA (including the movies) and now have jumped into MasakoX's "What if" fanfics. Seriously, how good is Dragon Ball R&R? The only problem I have with it is that Masako somehow made Vegeta worse father than Goku.

This week's video, my cover of Gekkou by Onitsuka Chihiro:
Trick is inarguably my favorite Japanese Television drama. I discovered the series back when I was in high school. My ringtone back then was Antique Mystic from the original soundtrack and a voice clip from the first episode. I have watched every installment of the series except second season of Yabe Kenzo spin-off series. I just love this series so much. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it, especially of you are Nakama Yukie and Abe Hiroshi fan.

I have dreamed of singing this song since high school. There is just something so emotional about this song (or any Onitsuka Chihiro song in general). And to finally be able to sing it and share it brings me joy. I recorded this back in December. Summer, the mixer, was looking for something to practice mixing with. As I was lacking skill to mix back then (as I still am today) took that opportunity and gave him the files. I planned to release this back in January, but it got blocked in soundcloud so I was reluctant to upload it on Youtube. I planned to make a full music video of it, but since my phone was stolen last month, I decided just to make a looping video like I did with Let Me Know cover. I did make a mistake with the japanese subtitle on the video where it keeps saying "I am GOD'S CHILD 哀しい音は背中に爪跡を付けて" instead of the original lyrics. That was an error on my part during editing and only realised after the video is up.

On cosplay side: I am currently working on Hypnosis Mic cosplay project with some of my friends. Unfortunately I was too late for the bandwagon and the wig and costume are already unavailable for purchase, so have to figure that one out of my own. Hopefully the costume will be ready sometimes next month or two.

About this chapter: Thank you to Eva from Mavi Manga for the cleaning and typesetting. So yeah, T-Sensei is back with more hijinks with the kids. I am excited to get back to this series, since some people on mangadex assumed that the series ended on volume 2 because of that status column. No, there's still 4 more volumes of T-Sensei. This volume is leaning towards melancholic later down, but it is still entertaining. Some of the jokes, like in this chapter, might be lost in translation, like "Busu" and "Booth" joke. I don't know if I could pull it off like Yen Press's translation of Father and Son manga. But I will try my best.

So here's T-Sensei and his adorable students. Sorry if it is only one chapter. I already sent the entire volume to Eva and she's doing her best while also working on Ake no Tobari. I hope she's doing okay.

Ake no Tobari Ch. 131

Nanaten here. I am somehow managed to get out of MHW purgatory and somehow got myself in the Dragon Ball Z Abridged Marathon realm (how good is episode 60B?). Even Magatoki is looking at me pitifully.

New semester has started, which means I have to start working on my thesis. Hopefully that won't mean I would have to do this less. But who am I kidding? This is the only source of income I have now that I've given up on advertising.

And for this week's video: the less cringe mix version of our round 1 LSCB entry. Our team was eliminated at round two (thank you for the judges for the comment on my mix. Really help). This video was my mix back during round one that wasn't submitted because the team literally asked me three hours before the deadline. I probably should have spend more time on this after that but hey, I never said it was good. Anyway, watch it at your own risk.

About this chapter: Special appreciation to Eva from Mavi Manga for the cleaning and typesetting. Back when I sent the script, I missed a couple of pages, so the beginning was shifted by two bubble speeches. Luckily, she managed to catch up on that and informed me. Took me a couple of hours to fix those parts myself. But on the plus side, I have slight better understanding of cleaning with Photoshop and more appreciation to the her cleaning work.

So here's Ake no Tobari chapter 131. Unfortunately, chapter 132 isn't done yet, so next week I'll be updating other series.
