Ake no Tobari Ch 10

Nanaten here. Back in high school, I have this history teacher. Very few of us actually listened during his class. He died a couple of years ago and I didn't go to his funeral. I feel kinda guilty because now, I know what it feels to be ignored by your students, especially when they deliberately run away mid-class. I feel like I let people down, my history teacher, my supervisor, myself, and my students.

Some of the other teachers up here told me I should brought down the hammer on my students. But the problem is, I'm too languid to do so. I haven't been able to get mad in years because I'm too languid (and also when things happen,.it's mostly my fault). I just can't bring myself to let my emotions out properly.

My bitching out aside, this chapter marks the end of Reimei's fight. I saw the sketch from the author's twitter page and compared it with recent chapter. And I must say, Reimei's design has changed quite significantly. He's a lot taller in recent chapters compared to this one.

As for Hibachi's lines, I decided not to translate it just like I did with Goku on TCL. In case if you're wondering, all Hibachi says are "Kyu~". Kinda reminds me of Naga from Saiyuki series (I can't be sure, I haven't seen that anime in years).

So here's chapter 10. As usual, feel free to tell me in the comments if you found spelling and grammar errors.

Ake no Tobari Ch. 9

Nanaten here with double update. I decided not to use Reimei move's literal translation "Blindfold" and went with "Kagome" instead.

Chapter 9.

Ake no Tobari Ch. 8

Nanaten here. I couldn't get good signal for the past few days up here. At least I'm getting the hang of this teaching thing. Now I know what it feels like when you're teaching someone else's class. And I must say, the grass looks greener, sort of.

Comico shop just announced on Thursday that they'll be selling acrylic stand of Tobari and Reimei. I still don't know whether I should buy it or not because of shipping cost.

As the pic suggested, this arc focused on Reimei. So far, Reimei has been potrayed as a jobber in this series. And after reading this arc, my view on Reimei had changed.

Chapter 8

Nanaten's Random Friday

Comico just announced on Thursday that they'll be selling Acrylic Stands of Tobari and Reimei. It's 10 cm tall and 5 cm wide. You can detach the upper part and use it as a keychain.

Ake no Tobari Ch. 7

Nanaten here on his first week of teaching. It want well, kind of. I keep forgetting what am I supposed to teach these kids. Other than that, I bonded well with them.

Random stuff: I keep getting Eiffel 65 song stuck in my head this week. For some reason, I kept singing. It now stuck to my roommates as well. That has been my plan all along.

This week I discovered that a scanlation team in Thailand is using my translation of Ake no Tobari even though there's already an official translation in Comico Thailand app. I'm actually happy that someone is using my translation. This just means that the series is getting popular. However, I don't know about those guys in Comico. Can someone let them know about the official translation? Also tell them that Nanaten says Hi!

About this chapter: The hand puns in this chapter are intentional by the author. It's exactly what it says in the raws. Also, we finally know the names of the yokai trio: Meyui (eyes), Tekka (horn), and Shimon (four arms). All those names are written in katakana. Out of all characters in Ake no Tobari, Shimon is actually my favorite, even more than Tobari and Reimei. I just fell bad about him as an antagonist. I won't spoil any further because the author already asked the readers not to spoil the series.

So here's chapter 7. Next week will be a double update of Ake no Tobari. I'm feeling generous this week.

Kaiouki Vol. 8 Ch. 25

Hi, guys! Nanaten here with double update.

I started bonding together with my roommates up in the mountains here. Althought I still unmotivated to go outside. But the ammount of times I go outside is actually much bigger than the time I was at the city. So I have that going.

In this chapter, there are many ship terminologies. It's hard to keep track on each one. Masatoshi-sensei was kind enough to put a glossary at the end of this volume but I'm too lazy to translate that.

Anyway, here's the last chapter of volume 8. Next, I'll be working on War on Geminar as I forgot to bring other raws on my laptop.

Monthly Shonen Magazine April Issue

Nanaten's Random Review

It's that time of the month again. This month, two new series started, and one ended, and one is preparing to get back on the magazine. Liu Bang is on the front cover (Yato, Yukine, and Chiori is on front cover of the Kindle version).

Lineup (03/05/2016)

  • Ryusui no Tsubasa: Shiki Ryuko Seike Iden (Masatoshi Kawahara)

95 pages of goodness that I once again cannot read. But at least I got a new screen saver for my phone. From what I can read out of google translate, first chapter sets two years after the unification of China. It tells of how Zhang Liang found a baby fall off a cliff (or something, I don't know....).

Anyway, a reviewer said that Zhang Liang is kinda combination of various Kawahara-sensei's past characters (like how Tuban Sano's character design reminds us of Benkei from Shura no Toki). The fighting scene is still there, which gives us the feeling of Shura no Toki: China Arc, only without Mutsu. Although there is a fan theory that the characters in this manga are the ancestors of that Chinese clan from Dai ni Mon, but that's just stretching it.

Next chapter will be 105 pages and maybe the first chapter will be available for free on their website.

  • Noragami (Adachitoka)

  • Kakushigoto (Kouji Kumeda)

Hime brought her father's donut cushion and it's surprisingly popular. Then Kakushi took Hime to a summer festival, but he have to hide any of his merchandise sold in various stalls. And finally, policemen came to Kakushi's workplace for an inspection.

  • Okitegami Kyoko no Biboroku (Nishio Ishin & Yo Asami)

With Kyoko-san memories have been reset, it's time to solve the case. But there's still a bigger case on who wrote last chapter's note.

  • Mashiro no Oto (Marimo Ragawa & Sai Aoya)

A special gourmet chapter featuring chibi-styled Setsu and Wakana. Next Issue, Mashiro no Oto will return from their break.

  • Haru yo, Kuru na (Bin Kusamizu & Mayo Hamazaki)

It's Takuya's first day as a med student and things aren't looking great for him.

  • RiN (Sakuishi Harold)

  • Dear Boys Overtime (Hiroki Yagami)

  • Kin no Kanojo Gin no Kanojo (Maruboro Akai)

The gang is helping their friend to meet a deadline for her erotic manga in 24 hours.

  • Kuro Ageha (Atsushi Kase)

  • Ponkotsundere na Osananajimi (Reona Umitsuki)

New romatic comedy series about a boy who has a weird girl childhood friend. It's a nice take on childhood friends genre.

  • Summer Salt Turn (Hajime Inoryu & Renji Hoshi)

Mizuno has found his determination to take down Ebina. Meanwhile, the girls are sorting out their feelings after Ebina's confession last chapter.

  • Bocchi Album (Satoshi Yamaguchi & Takeshi Hirai)

A girl is missing her shoes and everyone suspect Kurusu.

  • C. M. B. (Motohiro Kato)

Another treasure hunt for the duo. This time, a statue of an Egyptian cat that is connected to black magic.

  • Convenience Store Lady (Asumu Matsumoto)

This chapter, our lady is craving for some chocolate. However, when she heard about pop rocks, she decides to mix those two together.

  • Banjo no Polaris (Minori Kiguchi & Takahiro Wakamatsu)

Final chapter (Are you serious? This ended?!). Second match between Ippei and Aoi. This time, Ippei decides to take Aoi to his world. After that is time skip and Hikaru-no-Go-ish ending. Too bad this ended. It has so much potential.

I'm gonna miss this series

  • Tekken Chinmi Legends (Takeshi Maekawa)

A chapter featuring the antagonists. Yeah, I don't care either.

  • Chikuwa Machi no Susume (Naoki Hirano)

  • Ryuroden (Yoshito Yamahara)

  • Shin Kamen Rider Spirits (Ishinomori Shotaro & Kenichi Muraeda)

Ake no Tobari Ch. 6

Nanaten here updating from somewhere in the mountains. The first week on my Community Service went smoothly except for the part where I got carsick. The locals are friendly, kinda reminds me of the folks back at my late granpa's home (I miss that old dude).

For the last five days, we got to watch classes during midterms. It's weird to be on the other side of that table, but it was a fun experience. It's amusing to see the face of middle schoolers struggling during an exam. However, next week is going to get real. I will be teaching those classes starting next week.

Anyway back to Ake no Tobari. Ake no Tobari sticker for White Day is now available on Comico Page app. From what I can see from the poster, it's a sticker of Tobari hugging a huge heart. I can't tell if there is another sticker because my phone is apparently incompatible with the app. Let me know if you have the app installed.

Also if you noticed the art at the top, I took them from the author's twitter page. He always puts up an art when a new chapter is released in Japan. This one correspondent to chapter 6. While at the bottom you see an art by the author to promote Comico. I took the liberty of removing the speech bubble. It has been my phone screen saver for a month now and I would like to share it to you guys.

Random news:

I just got my first patron!!!
HUGE SHOUTOUT TO NICHOLAS HALL FOR BEING MY FIRST PATRON

I would like to reward you somehow, but I can't access my patreon from up here. So let me know if you get this message in the comments.

So here's the new arc of Ake no Tobari. It's a cheerful one. Next week is another double update of Ake no Tobari and Kaiouki.
